Annachiara Korchmaros, PhD

Data Analyst, Center for the Developing Brain

Child Mind Institute

Annachiara Korchmaros, PhD, is a data analyst in the Center for the Developing Brain at the Child Mind Institute. She assists in the implementation, execution and maintenance of fMRI imaging analysis pipelines. She works collaboratively to explore new strategies to improve current software packages.

Dr. Korchmaros was trained in mathematics and bioinformatics. She holds a master’s degree in bioinformatics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a second master’s degree in applied mathematics from University of Perugia, and a doctoral degree in mathematics from University of Basilicata. During her doctoral studies, Dr. Korchmaros focused on mathematical models of rearrangements of DNA. In particular, in her doctoral dissertation, she used graph theory and permutations to study block transpositions of circular DNA. While she was pursuing her master’s degree in bioinformatics at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr. Korchmaros worked as an assistant teacher in the mathematics department, helping first- and second-year college students learn calculus and graph theory.
