Arleene D. Castillo is a social work intern for the School and Community Programs team at the Child Mind Institute. She is currently in the second year of her master’s program in social work at Columbia University. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology and political science from Lehigh University.

Before joining the Child Mind Institute, Ms. Castillo was a fifth-grade teacher and clinical intern at Garden State Treatment Center. While working with students she realized the importance of children’s mental health, especially in under-resourced communities. As a clinical intern, she implemented cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in both group and individual sessions for adults seeking recovery from drugs and alcohol.

Ms. Castillo is passionate about helping children achieve positive mental health. She is committed to using her previous experiences to provide empowering and supportive care.
