Karina Disla is a social work intern at the Child Mind Institute’s research initiative the Healthy Brain Network, where she assists with data collection and conducting psychosocial assessments. Karina earned her bachelor’s degree in human services in the state of New York at Boricua College. She has completed 190 hours of internship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, where she received training at the Youth Anxiety Center (YAC) and three different teams within the division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry – the Special Needs Clinic, the PROMISE Project and the School Based Mental Health Program. Currently Karina is attending Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work, where she is working toward a master’s degree in social work. Her first year field placement was at Gotham Collaborative High School. Her duties included providing crisis counseling, maintaining student data records, conducting outreach to students in temporary housing, working with students with IEPs to develop goals and attending IEP meetings.
