Katherine Sitler-Elbel is a research assistant for the Healthy Brain Network. She administers and scores assessments for participants in the study. Katherine has a passion for child trauma intervention and counseling and hopes to pursue a career providing children with the tools they need to cope with traumatic life events.
Katherine graduated cum laude with a double major in environmental science and psychology from Fordham University. During this time, she worked as a research assistant in a study regarding immunity properties against White-nose Syndrome in bats, and in a study on fitness and motivation in children. In her hometown of Dallas, Texas, Katherine worked with youth and children’s programming at Grace United Methodist Church, where most of the children and youth were refugees from Eastern Africa. Her experiences have culminated in an interest in working with children to improve mental health and treatment.
