Maxwell Mattern, MSEd

Maxwell Mattern is the Learning Manager for the Youth Mental Health Academy at the Child Mind Institute. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in leadership development from the University of Florida, and completed a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs at Indiana University Bloomington. Previously, Maxwell served in a variety of capacities within UC Berkeley’s New Student and Family Programs team, from Assistant Director to Interim Director, all focused on onboarding 10,000 incoming students each year. He has leadership experience in curriculum development, facilitation, supervision, event planning, and program management.

Maxwell has dedicated his career to student development both inside and outside the classroom, and he is passionate about educating youth and making education more accessible.
