Social Skills Groups
Social skills groups at the Child Mind Institute are designed to help children in grades one through three develop social, problem solving, and school readiness skills using an evidence-based intervention called the Incredible Years.
Our social skills groups help children who:
- have trouble staying focused in school
- don’t follow directions at home
- have trouble thinking before acting
- complain about not having friends or have trouble making friends
- don’t respond well to social cues
- experience difficulty with tolerating frustration and being flexible when things don’t go their way
Our social skills groups help children build school readiness skills and problem solving skills as well as coping skills for anger and emotion regulation. Children also learn strategies to stay focused, follow directions and make new friends through games, role-plays, arts and crafts, and other fun activities.
Parent groups are run concurrent with children’s groups. Parents are taught how to reinforce the skills their children are learning at home and to build their own positive behavior management skills.
To be announced. Please take a look at our event calendar for other upcoming events.

To determine eligibility and fit, we require a diagnostic evaluation for any child who is not a current patient of the Child Mind Institute. Cost for the evaluation is based on the rate of the clinician assigned.
The fall program costs $2,500. Full payment is due upon registration.
If a participant cannot attend a multi-day program after registering for it, a refund of the program cost minus a $300 non-refundable deposit will be given provided the cancellation is made 30 days prior to the start date of the program.
