Ram Sundaram Honored at Child Advocacy Award Dinner
The Child Mind Institute held its fourth annual Child Advocacy Award Dinner on December 11, 2013. The gala event hosted by Meredith Viera honored Ram Sundaram, recipient of the 2013 Child Advocacy Award for his dedication to children's mental health, and with the help of celebrity auctioneer Al Roker raised $6.65 million to support the mission of the Child Mind Institute. During the night's program the 2014 Child Mind Institute Distinguished Scientist Award was presented to Pasko Rakic, MD, PhD.

The 2013 dinner highlighted the Child Mind Institute’s neuroscience research program, which presents an opportunity for transformative breakthroughs in child mental health. An auction led by Deborah Roberts and Al Roker raised $6.4 million for the Healthy Brain Network, a community health initiative that is pioneering innovative, collaborative approaches to brain research with the ultimate goal of developing biological tests for mental illness. A short film produced by National Geographic Channel’s Brain Games host Jason Silva about the Child Mind Institute’s science program also premiered.
