Valentine’s Day gives us the opportunity to express our love to those we care about — whether it’s a romantic partner, trusted friend, or family member. That’s why this week at childmind.org, we’re doing a roundup of resources that discuss different forms of love and relationships.

Since teenagers are often new to romantic relationships, we offer tips on how to gently talk to your kids about what makes a good partner, how to know if a relationship is healthy, as well as some general relationship dos and don’ts. We also discuss why it’s important to have open and honest conversations around sex and consent with your teenagers. And since teens often rely on their friends for support, we offer guidance on how to help a friend (or a sibling) who’s having a hard time. For some, a holiday centered around love can bring up complicated emotions. We suggest ways to support teens who are going through a breakup and kids who might be feeling lonely.
