Academy Award Winner Emma Stone and The Sweat Spot’s Ryan Heffington Danced Together – Apart – to Support the Child Mind Institute’s Clinical Services and COVID-19 Resources for Families

April 26, 2020

New York, NY – On Saturday, April 25, Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone and choreographer Ryan Heffington, owner of the popular Los Angeles dance studio The Sweat Spot, joined forces to support the Child Mind Institute’s essential work providing clinical care and resources for families during the COVID-19 crisis. Stone and Heffington danced and lip synced together on Instagram @thesweatspot as a fundraiser for the national non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of children struggling with mental health and learning disorders.

Heffington generously agreed to dedicate all funds raised between April 25 and April 27 to the Child Mind Institute.

Stone has been actively involved with the Child Mind Institute since she created a personal video discussing her struggles with anxiety for the organization’s #MyYoungerSelf awareness campaign in 2017. She joined the Child Mind Institute’s board of directors in January 2019.

“Emma continues to be an invaluable and deeply committed supporter of the Child Mind Institute,” said Child Mind Institute Founding President and Medical Director Harold S. Koplewicz, MD. “We are so deeply grateful for her help, and Ryan’s amazing generosity, as we work to help children and their families navigate these unprecedented times.”

About the Child Mind Institute

The Child Mind Institute is an independent, national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. Our teams work every day to deliver the highest standards of care, advance the science of the developing brain and empower parents, professionals and policymakers to support children when and where they need it most. Together with our supporters, we’re helping children reach their full potential in school and in life. We share all of our resources freely and do not accept any funding from the pharmaceutical industry.
