Ariana Wasret, MA
Ariana Wasret, MA, is a psychology extern in the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute. She specializes in therapy for children and adolescents dealing with anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD), and selective mutism (SM). She also specializes in working with parents whose children have behavioral challenges, such as oppositional defiant disorder (ODD).
Wasret has experience working with various behavioral and cognitive behavioral therapies, including parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT), parent-child interaction therapy adapted for selective mutism (PCIT-SM), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and exposure therapy. She’s provided therapy, diagnostic assessments, and parenting work at the Child and Parent Psychological Services (CAPPS) clinic at Hofstra University, providing individual therapy, group therapy, and diagnostic evaluations for children and their families struggling with anxiety, behavioral challenges, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and eating challenges. Wasret was also a clinical counselor at Camp Kidpower at Columbia University, where she worked with children ages 4-6 exhibiting symptoms of anxiety.
In her current position at the Anxiety Disorders Center, Wasret will provide individual therapy and parent training, as well as group-based interventions. Drawing on evidence-based approaches, she incorporates techniques rooted in CBT.
