Chris Palmatier

Chris Palmatier is the director of product design in the Center for Product Development at the Child Mind Institute.

Chris began his career as a software engineer and product designer for the University of California, where he led the development of the Lumiere platform for the Berkeley Language Center. He has expertise in early-stage product development and has led cross-functional teams for startups like Neighborland, Piazza, and Coursera. Chris has also worked on initiatives with government agencies including the City and County of San Francisco’s Digital Services teams and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. Chris matches strong systems thinking with a deep empathy for end users and colleagues.

As the director of product design in the Center for Product Development, Chris leads teams of internal, freelance, and agency designers, and works alongside NGDT product and engineering directors to build usable and engaging digital products for children and families, as well as clinicians and researchers.
