Mary Rooney, PhD

Mary Rooney, PhD, a clinical psychologist, is the NIMH Associate Director of Prevention. Dr. Rooney joined NIMH in 2017 as a Program Officer in the Division of Services and Intervention Research. During her tenure at NIMH, she has also managed the Child and Adolescent Psychosocial Interventions Research Program and shaped the institute’s emerging priorities in preteen suicide prevention research. Dr. Rooney was previously a clinical psychologist at the Child Mind Institute.
