Michael T. Compton, MD
Michael T. Compton, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Psychiatry at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons in the Division of Behavioral Health Services and Policy Research. He is also a Research Psychiatrist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
After completing medical school at the University of Virginia, Dr. Compton trained in general psychiatry, preventive medicine, public health, and community psychiatry at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He served on the faculty as an Assistant Professor and then tenured Associate Professor at Emory. He then served as Professor and Director of Research Initiatives in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The George Washington University School of Medicine.
Upon relocating to New York, he was Chairman of Psychiatry at Lenox Hill Hospital in the Upper East Side and Professor of Psychiatry at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine until joining Columbia and New York State in 2016.
