Safiya Addison
Safiya Addison is the Director of Implementation and Outreach on the School and Community Programs team at the Child Mind Institute, where she works to develop sustained partnerships with schools, school districts, and community organizations across the United States. Safiya has spent over 15 years committed to developing community relationships, with experience in partnership-building with elected officials, community groups, schools, faith-based organizations, and business leaders.
Prior to joining the Child Mind Institute, Safiya worked at Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow as the director of communications and partnerships to advance youth educational programs throughout New York City. Safiya has spent many years working in healthcare, increasing access to health resources and services and developing and presenting health education programs, panels, lectures, and workshops in community settings. During her time working as the community relations specialist at the New York City Department of Health, Safiya created a speaker series connecting community stakeholders to healthcare leadership. As the director of the community marketing and development departments at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Safiya developed a partnership with the New York Public Library to deliver healthcare workshops to the hospital’s adult learning groups. Safiya holds an MBA in management from St. Joseph’s University and a bachelor’s degree from Howard University.
