Bipolar Disorder: What Do We Really Know?
Over the last 20 years there has been a dramatic increase in the diagnosis of bipolar disorder in children. One complication causing confusion in diagnosis is an apparent overlap in symptoms between ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and early bipolar disorder. In this workshop, Ron Steingard, MD, Senior Pediatric Psychopharmacologist at the Child Mind Institute, explores current thinking about children with early presentations of bipolar disorder, discusses the intersection with ADHD/ODD, and helps to clarify the differences in disorders.
