Event
Child Mind Institute 2018 Fall Luncheon
Expectations for children are changing even as the influences that vie for their attention multiply. One thing hasn’t changed: parents’ values are still the greatest influence in the lives of children and adolescents, provided that the lines of communication are open.
This panel discussion featuring experts in child development and communication will address questions of the moment: How do we speak to children and teens so that they understand without forcing them to grow up too fast? How do we help children learn how to set boundaries with themselves and other people? How do we teach our children what’s right and wrong, when it often seems like all is permitted? What does my child need to know now, and how can I be sure he or she hears me? Effective communication can transform the relationship between parent and child, enrich it with more warmth, respect, and sincerity, and overcome the distractions of the modern age including digital devices.
