Do you provide treatment to patients who live in my state?

In-person treatment is available in our New York City and San Francisco Bay Area offices. For telehealth treatment, our board-certified clinicians are also licensed to treat patients who live in the following states:

  • California
  • Connecticut
  • New Jersey
  • New York

If you reside outside our qualifying states but are willing to travel to one of our offices, please choose “New York, NY” or “San Mateo, CA” as your preferred office location on the request an appointment form.

If you are unable to travel to one of our office locations, we offer virtual Parent and Caregiver Programs to support families. Please refer to our Care page and Connect to Care pages to explore additional ways to find care.

How much will care cost?

Our clinicians are trained in evidence-based treatments, which are specialized forms of therapy that have been proven effective for children. The cost of care varies by service:

  • Financial aid is available for families who qualify
  • Diagnostic evaluation: $1,500-$3,300, depending on clinician seniority
  • Neuropsychological evaluation: $5,500-$9,000
  • Psychiatric evaluation: $4,000
  • Ongoing treatment: $300-$560/hour, depending on clinician seniority*

*If appropriate for your family, we are a training institute where families can work with supervised clinical externs at lower rates.

Do you accept insurance or offer financial aid?

We are an out-of-network provider. We help families use out-of-network benefits by providing superbills for their insurance company. Additionally, we partner with two organizations to assist with filing, managing claims, verifying benefits, and handling pre-authorizations.

We offer financial aid, which may reduce your costs based on need. We do not run our clinics for profit. Any excess revenue goes to support financial aid.

What conditions do you treat?

The Child Mind Institute offers thorough evaluation and gold-standard treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions and concerns. Please refer to our What We Treat section for our areas of care.

My child has already been evaluated. Do I need another evaluation?

Yes. While we value previous evaluations, our clinicians will conduct a direct assessment to ensure we provide personalized and effective treatment recommendations tailored to your child’s specific needs.

Can I have my child evaluated at the Child Mind Institute and then look for treatment closer to home?

Absolutely. We often work with children who live outside New York City or San Mateo. Following the evaluation process, we may offer treatment sessions virtually, depending on what is best for your child and the laws in your state. We can also assist you in finding local specialists and collaborate with the clinicians currently involved in your child’s care.
