Diana Charlop, MS
Diana Charlop, MS, is a psychology extern in the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute. She specializes in therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults dealing with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), trauma, behavioral challenges, and executive functioning issues.
Diana has experience working with various behavioral therapies, including trauma-informed CBT, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance commitment therapy (ACT). Before joining the Child Mind Institute, she provided therapy, diagnostic assessments, and parenting work in a multitude of settings — including the North Shore School District, Churchill School and Center, and the medical clinic Long Island Neuropsychological Consultants. She was a clinical coordinator for the Diagnostic and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) at Hofstra University, providing individual therapy, group therapy, and diagnostic evaluations for individuals with ASD as well as coping strategies for parents. Additionally, Diana was the founding clinical coordinator for the Institute for Generational Resilience Informed by Trauma (GRIT) at Hofstra University, where she worked with community partners, organized trainings, and led workshops on the impact of stress on mental health.
In her position at the Anxiety Disorders Center, Diana will provide individual therapy and parent training, as well as group based interventions. Drawing on evidence-based approaches, Diana incorporates techniques rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Diana envisions the therapeutic space as a collaborative environment centered on growth, learning, and empathy. She is committed to working with children and families to explore solutions that center their lived experiences.
