Guilherme V. Polanczyk, MD, PhD, is an associate professor of child and adolescent psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at University of São Paulo Medical School, Brazil. He is also the director of the child and adolescent psychiatry division of the Institute of Psychiatry, Hospital das Clinicas at University of São Paulo, and the vice president of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions.

Dr. Polanczyk teaches both undergraduate and graduate students and is a clinical supervisor of medical residents in child and adolescent psychiatry. He has 20 years of clinical experience assessing and treating children and adolescents with mental disorders, particularly neurodevelopmental disorders. His research interests include epidemiology and early manifestations and interventions of ADHD. His work has been funded by national and international research agencies and recognized with awards from the Brazilian Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, among others.
