Izabela Konopko, MS
Izabela Konopko, MS, is a psychology extern in the ADHD and Behavior Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute. She received her Master of Science in School Psychology and is continuing to pursue a doctorate in school psychology at St. John’s University. Izabela has evaluated and implemented psychological interventions for children with various behavioral and emotional difficulties. She is particularly passionate about working with children who present with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). Additionally, she has experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum and those experiencing anxiety, depression, social difficulties, learning difficulties, and speech or language impairments.
When delivering services, Izabela utilizes evidence-based practices with a multi-disciplinary and person-centered approach to best meet the needs of the individual child and their family. She has provided therapeutic services in diverse settings, including schools and community mental health clinics. Prior to joining the Child Mind Institute, Izabela trained under a licensed psychologist as an extern in an elementary school. She consulted with teachers to build a successful learning environment, conducted psychoeducational evaluations to determine children’s abilities and recommend individualized interventions, and led individual and group counseling sessions for students ages 5–10. As a student clinician at the St. John’s Center for Psychological Services, she implemented individual therapy and conducted comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for children and young adults. Specifically, she has been trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) treatments, most notably behavioral parent training.
Izabela is committed to providing exceptional individualized care to children, adolescents, and young adults as they strive to overcome behavioral challenges to reach their potential across school, home, and social settings. Izabela strongly believes in implementing early, evidence-based interventions with warmth, consistency, and positivity, which will set children up for success and help them navigate and understand their unique minds.
