Laura Newman, PhD, is the project coordinator for the Center for Data Analytics, Innovation, and Rigor (DAIR) at the Child Mind Institute. After earning her bachelor’s degree in biology with a focus on neuroscience from Boston College, Dr. Newman pursued a PhD in anthropology at New York University (NYU). There, she investigated the molecular mechanisms of aging.
Dr. Newman’s undergraduate research examined the development of sex differences in oxytocin signaling in the brain. While earning her PhD at NYU, Dr. Newman helped to develop and maintain collaborations with research teams across the United States and Europe. She also taught undergraduate courses and mentored high school and undergraduate students.
Prior to joining the Child Mind Institute, Dr. Newman served as the program manager for NYU’s Ecosystem Hub, designing and implementing programs to promote leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration among STEM faculty.
In her current role at the DAIR Center, Dr. Newman provides administrative oversight and supports project planning, implementation, and management across DAIR Center initiatives.
Dr. Newman is excited about leveraging her scientific background and program management skills to support the Child Mind Institute’s mission of transforming the lives of children with mental health and learning disorders.
