Mai El Shoush is a Partnerships Campaign Manager for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Global Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the Child Mind Institute. She has extensive experience in international communications, human rights advocacy, and print and broadcast journalism.

Mai previously served as the communications and advocacy consultant for UNICEF Sudan, Africa. In this position, she led strategic and capacity-building projects that ensured access to fundamental human rights for disadvantaged youth and communities. Mai has also supported advocacy efforts to end violence against children, FGM, and child marriage. Additionally, she spearheaded the UNICEF Youth and National Ambassador programs, and produced multi-platform content to advocate for health, nutrition, education, and protection services. More recently, Mai worked for a UK-based, award-winning online education platform that promotes mental health awareness in education, managing academic pressure, and building self-development skills in young people.

As a journalist, Mai has worked for leading media houses such as Dubai TV, Gulf News, Abu Dhabi Media Company, and Vox Africa. She’s covered, produced, edited, and anchored breaking international news, and business, culture, and community development. As a nod to her incredible work in the field, she was invited by the Dubai International Film Festival to lead their prestigious Young Journalist Award program.

In her current role at the Child Mind Institute, Mai oversees the Global Centre’s content strategy in collaboration with international partners, as well as the strengthening of youth participation.
