Mary Kate Ryan, M.S., is a psychology extern in the Autism Center at the Child Mind Institute. She is a doctoral candidate in the School-Community Psychology program at Hofstra University. Ms. Ryan has a special interest in providing therapeutic services for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. She additionally is enthusiastic about providing comprehensive psychological evaluations for all populations.

Ms. Ryan has experience delivering therapy and diagnostic assessments for children and adolescents, and training for parents, in various environments, including both school and clinical settings. She is also currently the clinic coordinator for the Diagnostic and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) at Hofstra University, where she provides individual therapy, group therapy, and diagnostic evaluations for individuals with ASD and co-occurring disorders, as well as psychoeducation for parents. She has received formal training in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2). Additionally, Ms. Ryan has worked in the field of applied behavior analysis as a registered behavior technician (RBT) for children with a wide range of neurodevelopmental disorders. She is pursuing an advanced certificate in applied behavior analysis with the goal of receiving a BCBA-D degree as well. Ms. Ryan is also the coordinator and committee member of a volunteer program called Respite, where she provides a safe and welcoming environment for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

In her position at the Autism Center, Ms. Ryan will provide individual therapy and group-based interventions, as well as full psychological evaluations for children and adolescents with ASD. Ms. Ryan approaches therapy as a shared, collaborative journey focusing on growing together. She is passionate about supporting children and their families in finding paths forward that are shaped by their unique and individual perspectives and experiences. Ultimately, she hopes to pursue a psychology career working in schools, clinics, and private settings.
