
Nina C. Denson, EdD
Nina C. Denson, EdD, serves as the program director of the Youth Mental Health Academy (YMHA) at the Child Mind Institute. She oversees the operation and development of YMHA to empower students to succeed as productive citizens and leaders in diverse communities.
Her research focuses on nontraditional urban school settings that offer opportunity and access — including innovative program design, curricula improvements, special education, instructional programming, regulatory compliance, college readiness and preparation, as well as equity and inclusion.
Dr. Denson formerly served as a principal, special education administrator, special education local plan area coordinator, and a school teacher. In these roles, she fostered positive school cultures while implementing innovative educational programs, advocating for student needs, and tailoring instruction that met students’ individual needs to promote growth.
