Taína Coleman, MA, MEd, is an educational specialist in the Learning and Development Center at the Child Mind Institute. Taína has over 15 years of experience in the Special Education and Literacy Education field in New York City. Taína’s approach is rooted in research-driven methodologies. She is an expert in developing tailored, balanced, and effective literacy curricula within various school settings, including special education and general education environments. Taína provides caring and effective intervention and plans for remediation for children with a wide range of learning skills and challenges, including reading, writing, executive function, and attentional learning needs.

Taína is also a talented staff developer and has experience providing practical and data-driven professional development and supervision for educators and with a wide range of pedagogical experience. While Taína is a classroom teacher at heart, she has extensive experience as an administrator, most recently holding the position of Assistant Principal of Academics at an elite New York Independent school. Taína has a passion for developing curriculum and resource materials which further diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Taína is skilled at partnering with children and families to demystify learning profiles and aid learners of different skill sets to gain confidence while growing as strategic learners. Her array of experiences with brain development, pedagogy, and learning environment lends itself well to her expertise in supporting families as they navigate the complex school placement process.
