Ting Xu, PhD

Ting Xu, PhD, is the director of the Center for Integrative Developmental Neuroscience (IDN) at the Child Mind Institute. She’s also a research scientist on the senior research scientist track, a tenure-track equivalent. Dr. Xu has over a decade of active engagement in cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging research, with her work primarily focusing on understanding the brain evolution across species and unraveling the normal brain development and alternations associated with mental health disorders.

Dr. Xu has developed advanced computational pipelines and statistical models aimed at processing large-scale fMRI datasets and establishing reliability and reproducibility of the functional connectome in human and nonhuman primates. She has also utilized deep learning techniques to address the challenges of image processing. Additionally, Dr. Xu has played a proactive role in the organization, sharing, and analysis of open large-scale neuroimaging datasets in human and non-human primates. This involvement extends to significant initiatives such as the Consortium for Reliability and Reproducibility (CoRR) and PRIMatE Data Exchange (PRIME-DE).

The IDN Center, formerly recognized as the Center for the Developing Brain, stands as a collaborative research team with a broad focus on brain development and human cognition processes. In her role as director, Dr. Xu guides a team of researchers in utilizing multimodal imaging techniques and large-scale data to develop computational approaches investigating the structural and functional connectome, with a goal of unraveling the biological principles that govern dynamic brain function and support high-level cognition.
