Chamique Holdsclaw has depression.
Chamique Holdsclaw has depression. Holdsclaw grew up playing basketball and is a former professional player in the WNBA with the San Antonio Silver Stars. Holdsclaw was a member of the US National team who traveled to Berlin in 1998 for the FIBA World Championships and to the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
Chamique has also participated as a Minority Mental Health Advocate for Project UROK, the Child Mind Institute’s inclusive community for teens and young adults who are committed to ending the stigma and isolation of struggling with mental illness.
When Chamique spoke with Project UROK, she had this to say about being an advocate: “Because I always find myself in the minority, black, woman, LGBT, low socioeconomic upbringing etc., I pride myself in finding my own voice by being a voice for the voiceless and marginalized.”
