“If I could say one thing to my younger self it would be, have fun with it. You know you’re not stupid. So don’t ever believe for a second that you are.”

James Van Der Beek has dyslexia.

James is an actor best known for his portrayal of Dawson Leery in the WB series Dawson’s Creek. He played a fictionalized version of himself on the cult ABC sitcom Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, and, most recently, starred in CSI: Cyber as FBI Special Agent Elijah Mundo. His film roles include Varsity Blues (1999) and The Rules of Attraction (2002). James started acting at 13 after suffering a concussion playing football that prevented him from playing for a year on doctor’s orders. He landed the role of Danny Zuko in his school production of “Grease.” After that, the acting bug sank in.
