Person, Place or Thing: Works by Students from the Winston Preparatory School

Thursday, April 14, 2016 · 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Child Mind Institute
445 Park Ave (entrance on 56th St), New York, NY 10022

The students of Winston Preparatory School worked with many mediums, including collage, colored pencil, charcoal, and photography, to create the people, places, or things that help color their lives. Throughout the exhibition, you will find a celebration of what is most important in the lives of these young people, in subjects as diverse and vibrant as the students themselves. The show features artwork from students in grades 8-12.

This exhibition focuses on the core values of the Winston Preparatory School visual arts program: the cultivation of an advanced skillset and a courageous work ethic. These tools ultimately lead students to discover their unique voices and leave them with a lasting experience of real success that helps to foster self-confidence.

About the Student Art Project

Four times a year the Child Mind Institute invites public and independent schools to participate in the Student Art Project, a gallery program dedicated to displaying works of art created by student artists. We invite schools to prepare an exhibition for our gallery based on a theme chosen by one of their own art teachers. Student pieces are displayed prominently in the gallery created by our resident curator, Angela Gage. We then invite student artists, their families, and the entire school community to join us for an opening reception to launch the school’s Student Art Project.

If your child’s school would like to participate in a future gallery show, please contact Angela Gage, the Student Art Project Curator, at 646.646.625 or Art teachers are also welcome to contact us on behalf of their students.
