During the busy holiday season, we often find ourselves multi-tasking and rushing, which can lead us to miss small, important moments. While we are checking things off our list, we don’t always focus on the little events that are special — excitement for snow, holding your child’s hand, or a giggle from a toddler. This holiday season, we hope you have a chance to slow down and raise your awareness for the small moments that can bring joy to you and your children.

Mindfulness is a simple and powerful tool to quiet the mind and deal with stress.

In recent years mindfulness has emerged as a method that can enhance treatment for children and adolescents with ADHD, anxiety, and depression.

If you are concerned about your child’s development and would like to schedule an evaluation in New York or San Mateo, please reach out to us today.

Depression and DBT

FOR CAREGIVERS

Depression and DBT

Getting treatment for depression and other mood disorders can feel daunting for many families, especially during the holidays. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an intensive, structured type of therapy that can help kids and teens who have a lot of trouble handling strong emotions. DBT works by combining two sets of skills. The first skill set, mindfulness, helps kids understand and accept difficult feelings. The second, a treatment called cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), teaches them how to engage with their feelings and change their behavior.

Below is a link to our Teacher’s Guide to Selective Mutism. If you would like to learn more or refer a patient in New York or San Mateo, please reach out to us today.
