School and Community Programs

Fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Our DEI Initiatives

Informed by feedback from the communities we serve and considering the ongoing national dialogue around these themes, our team has embarked on a variety of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Team Diversity

Increasing diversity among our team by prioritizing the hiring of BIPOC and Spanish-speaking staff. Currently, our School and Community Programs team is 30 percent BIPOC and/or Spanish-speaking.

Discussion Groups

Convening monthly discussion groups for our staff, informed by readings and expert guest speakers.

Professional Development

Centering our professional development workshops for clinicians on topics related to working in diverse contexts and understanding systemic and societal sources of trauma and stress.

Community Feedback

Creating community feedback forums made up of caregivers, teachers, and school administrators to help us ensure our materials and interventions are relevant to community concerns, adapted to the needs of diverse populations, and racially and culturally appropriate. Participants are compensated for their time.

Regular Reviews

Facilitating regular team reviews of our materials, seeking feedback related to considerations of race and identity, privilege, and relevance to the communities we serve.

Youth Council

Convening a Youth Council, in which young adults collaborate with the School and Community Programs team to share their perspectives and shape program materials and services. Members are compensated for their time.
