Alana Cooperman, LCSW, is a senior social worker for the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute. She has extensive experience delivering evidence-based treatment to children in school settings. Mrs. Cooperman has received training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Mrs. Cooperman has in-depth experience providing individual and group therapy to youth, treating children struggling with social anxiety, generalized anxiety, school-based anxiety and selective mutism. She has a wide range of experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ODD, and anger issues. She also has expertise in conducting child and adolescent risk assessments and received training to support children who are recovering from grief, bereavement and trauma.

Her experience includes working expansively on a multidisciplinary team, alongside school administrators, teachers, families and other clinicians to create student goals and individualized behavior plans. She has led numerous workshops for teachers and administration, teaching how to identify symptoms and providing helpful strategies to support children struggling with emotion management and coping skills. For over ten years she has partnered with parents in helping them learn how to best support their children’s struggles. Mrs. Cooperman also has experience conducting comprehensive family intakes. She has led numerous parent workshops on supporting children in regulating their emotions and behaviors, including anger and anxiety.

Using a strength-based perspective, Mrs. Cooperman is passionate about empowering individuals to meet their goals by finding their inner strength and confidence. She is committed to supporting children in increasing their self-awareness and self-control over their anxiety and the triggers that cause it.
