Alp Erkent, MD, MA
Alp Erkent, MD, MA, is a data analyst with the Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBI) Core within the Center for Strategic Data Initiatives (SDI) at the Child Mind Institute. Dr. Erkent’s experience spans the clinical, behavioral, and computational aspects of neuroscience. His passion lies in leveraging his multidisciplinary knowledge and skills to accelerate research on the complex neural mechanisms of behavior and cognition in the developing brain. In his current role with the MoBI team, Dr. Erkent provides programming, data handling, and analysis support for scientific and clinical projects; implements and updates data quality assurance and curation protocols; and tests, evaluates, and revises data processing and feature generation protocols.
Dr. Erkent pursued his higher education in Istanbul, Turkey, where he earned a medical degree from Koç University and a master’s degree in cognitive science, specializing in psychology and computer science, from Boğaziçi University. As a research assistant at Koç University’s Stress, Mood, and Cognition Lab, Dr. Erkent participated in a diverse set of neuroscience and psychiatry research projects, including wet lab procedures, computer-based assessments, MRI analyses, and meta-analyses. During his master’s program, he conducted a series of behavioral experiments to investigate how the brain processes information about the body.
