Anna Zhen, MS, MA, is a neuropsychology extern in the Learning and Development Center at the Child Mind Institute. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in the School Psychology program at St. John’s University, where she obtained her master’s degree in School Psychology. Ms. Zhen has also obtained a master’s degree in social sciences from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in psychology with a focus on cognitive neuroscience from Indiana University.

In the Learning and Development Center, Ms. Zhen provides comprehensive neuropsychological and educational evaluations to help understand children and adolescents’ cognitive, academic, and psychosocial functioning, synthesizing information across multiple sources to determine their current profile and make targeted recommendations for support. Prior to working at the Child Mind Institute, Ms. Zhen conducted evaluations in clinical and school settings for children, adolescents, and adults at the St. John’s Center for Psychological Services and the Mattlin Middle School in Long Island, New York.

Ms. Zhen is also active in research efforts within cognitive and clinical psychology. She is involved in multiple projects focusing on the effects of traumatic experiences (e.g., childhood maltreatment) on the mental and physical well-being of children, adolescents, and adults. To support her research efforts, she was awarded a seed grant from the Association for Psychological Sciences in 2023 and a doctoral fellowship for psychological research in 2024. She has also published her research in scholarly journals including the Journal of Cognition and the Journal of Child Development.

Overall, Ms. Zhen uses her background in psychology and neuroscience to facilitate the assessment, conceptualization, and support of each individual she works with. She aims to tailor assessments to the needs of her clients, help them understand their strengths and weaknesses, and identify effective next steps toward achieving their goals.
