Annemarie Root is a research assistant at the Autism Center under the direction of Dr. Adriana Di Martino. In this role, Annemarie supports the progress of research aimed to understand the neuronal correlates of autism spectrum disorder across childhood. Specifically, Annemarie assists in multiple aspects of this research ranging from participant recruitment to collection, management, and analysis of behavioral and brain imaging data. Annemarie earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from New York University and her Master of Health Science in public mental health from The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Under the supervision of researchers at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Annemarie completed a master’s thesis on cognitive-behavioral therapy as an intervention for anxiety in autistic individuals with co-occurring intellectual disability. Prior to joining the team at the Autism Center, Annemarie practiced Applied Behavior Analysis throughout New York City. Annemarie is excited to contribute to Dr. Di Martino’s research into the neurobiological correlates of symptomology in ASD.
