
Jamelia Silver, MBA
Jamelia Silver, MBA, is an administrative coordinator for the Youth Mental Health Academy. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Loyola Marymount University, followed by a master’s in business administration with an emphasis on entrepreneurship from Mount Saint Mary’s University. During her undergraduate career, Jamelia worked with LAUSD Beyond the Bell for eight years, providing homework and enrichment activities to students in the South Los Angeles area. During her time with Beyond the Bell, she launched a dance program for the students, promoting sisterhood, leadership, teamwork, and self-esteem. Jamelia left Beyond the Bell after accepting a position with Los Angeles County, DPSS. She continued volunteering at the school to run the dance program until the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced programs to close.but continued to return to the school and volunteer her time to run the dance program until the height of the Covid-19 pandemic which forced programs to close. While at DPSS, Jamelia worked in the CalHEERS task force and intake unit, which allowed her to become a CalHEERS subject matter expert and later be named unit lead.
After completing her master’s program, Jamelia returned to her first love of working with students. Armed with a passion for connecting with and inspiring the children from her community, providing experiences to positively influence their decisions, cultivate confidence, expose them to new opportunities, and open their eyes to what is possible, Jamelia accepted a regional manager position with ARC experience. During her time with ARC, she supported the relaunch of the enrichment department and provided leadership, training, and coaching to her staff. She allowed students to shape the program at their school, ensuring the schools within her cohort were meeting their needs and living up to ARC’s mission to close the opportunity gap.
