He has worked in various settings, including special education, behavioral management, and developmental disabilities. He also has expertise in forensic psychology, conducting evaluations for courts in juvenile delinquency, family matters, civil litigation, and criminal cases, often involving trauma, brain injury, and child custody. Dr. Shields has also worked with foster and adopted children, advocating for their special education needs and addressing emotional and behavioral challenges. With a passion for understanding and supporting children and families, Dr. Shields sees psychological testing as a tool to uncover insights and guide the path toward a brighter future.

For more than three decades Dr. Shields has worked with children and families in a wide variety of settings. Dr. Shields is also devoted to training in psychology and neuropsychology. He is a member of a number of professional organizations in the field, and he regularly provides presentations to professional, allied, and community groups.

As a forensic psychologist, Dr. Shields has been motivated to tell the stories of children, adolescents and adults who find themselves in the most unique and at times most serious of circumstances. He brings that same passion to his work as a neuropsychologist and is eager to hear the story of your child and your family, hoping to learn about your own struggles and resiliencies. Psychological and neuropsychological testing and assessment is not only about finding a diagnosis, but also about finding the keys to understanding the best way forward toward a brighter future for your child and your family.
