Jonathan Shepherd, MD

As the Chief Clinical Officer at DC Department of Behavioral Health, Jonathan Shepherd, MD, oversees the delivery of quality mental health and substance use disorder services to the residents of the nation’s capital. He also serves as the President of the Board of Directors at Black Mental Health Alliance, a nonprofit organization that advocates for the mental health needs of the African American community.

Dr. Shepherd has over 12 years of experience as a board certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist, and a fellowship from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Shepherd is passionate about reducing health disparities, promoting social justice, and fostering community resilience.
