Katerina Baeza-Hernandez, PhD, is a psychologist in the ADHD and Behavior Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute in the San Francisco Bay Area. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology with an emphasis in pediatric behavioral health and has extensive experience providing individual, group, and family therapy to children, adolescents, and families across hospital and community-based settings. Dr. Baeza-Hernandez specializes in the evaluation and treatment of childhood conditions, including ADHD, learning differences, autism spectrum disorder, behavioral challenges, and emotional disorders.
Dr. Baeza-Hernandez provides care in both English and Spanish and takes a strengths-based, person-centered, and culturally responsive approach to treatment. She integrates evidence-based interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing (MI) to tailor interventions to each child’s and family’s values, goals, and cultural context. She places a strong emphasis on caregiver involvement to promote meaningful and lasting change. Dr Baeza-Hernandez is trained in behavioral parent interventions, including parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) and the Incredible Years.
Prior to joining the Child Mind Institute, Dr. Baeza-Hernandez completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). There, she provided outpatient therapy, inpatient consultation-liaison services, and comprehensive psychological assessments as part of interdisciplinary medical teams. She has also supervised psychology interns and practicum students and completed the California Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (CA-LEND) program, further strengthening her leadership in equitable, interdisciplinary care for children with developmental and medical complexities.
