Katie Bernstein, MS
Katie Bernstein, MS, is a psychology extern in the Gund Learning and Diagnostic Center at the Child Mind Institute. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with co-occurring neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), language disorders, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, Bernstein works as an executive functioning coach for children and adults to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
Bernstein has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and caregivers across community clinic, school, and outpatient settings. Prior to joining the Child Mind Institute, she conducted psychological and psychoeducational evaluations and provided individual therapy, group counseling, and parent consultation. She’s also previously taught children with language-based learning disabilities at the Windward School — where she witnessed the impact of an appropriate education on children’s learning and self-esteem and grew interested in the intersection of neuropsychology and education.
At the Child Mind Institute, Bernstein leverages her background in assessment, therapy, and education to provide comprehensive evaluations. She prioritizes collaboration with families, schools, and multidisciplinary providers to build a comprehensive understanding of the whole child. During evaluations, Bernstein utilizes therapeutic techniques to engage children and create an environment where they feel safe and valued. And following evaluations, Bernstein aims to deliver practical, tailored recommendations to help children feel understood, build on their strengths, and access the support they need to succeed.
