Mariana Chaves is a member of the Global Youth Advisory Council (GYAC), at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Global Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the Child Mind Institute, working to support the advancement of child and adolescent mental health care.

Chaves has previously served as the president of her community’s Interact club, which empowers young people to make a difference in their communities through leadership skills. And as a board member of Rotary International, she developed projects involving youth political participation, health, education, and the environment. She has also worked as a behavioral economics researcher at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM).

Chaves is also earning her bachelor’s in government and economics at Harvard University. She has always been passionate about communication, and she hopes to apply her experiences to a future career in public policy.
