
Michelle Thirkield, PsyD
Michelle Thirkield, PsyD, is an associate psychologist in the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute. Dr. Thirkield has a specialized interest in the treatment of children and families managing anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Dr. Thirkield has experience working in school and clinical settings, allowing her to treat children with a broad range of clinical presentations. She works closely with schools and families to promote collaborative care.
Dr. Thirkield has experience treating various disorders, including selective mutism, separation anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorders, trichotillomania, behavior disorders, and depressive disorders. She is trained in providing evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), parent management training (PMT), and parent-child interaction therapy for selective mutism (PCIT-SM). Dr. Thirkield utilizes an integrative approach in her work to ensure individualized care. She prioritizes helping children and their families to increase their self-efficacy to overcome anxiety and lead more fulfilling lives.
