Taylor Barkee
Taylor Barkee is the Director of Programs for School and Community Programs at the Child Mind Institute. She currently oversees initiatives in New York and California to advance equitable access to mental health services for K–12 students.
Barkee joined the Child Mind Institute in 2019 and brings more than nine years of experience in education, including teaching in high-need schools in Seattle and Los Angeles. As an educator, Barkee saw firsthand how unmet mental health needs create barriers to learning. This insight led her to shift from classroom-level impact to systems-level work focused on closing long-standing gaps in mental health care in under-resourced communities.
Because students spend most of their waking hours in school, Barkee and her team work to provide critical evidence-based supports where they’re needed most — while building capacity and driving sustainable change within school communities.
