Charles "Twig" Ay, MS

Cognitive Task Developer, Next Generation Digital Therapeutics (NGDT)
Child Mind Institute

Charles “Twig” Ay, MS, is a cognitive task developer in the Next Generation Digital Therapeutics (NGDT) program at the Child Mind Institute. While earning his master’s in applied physics, Twig conducted research that used object oriented programming (OOP) to address complex computational physics problems, such as modeling turbulent fluid flows and chemical and semi-conductor behaviors — and studying the factors that drive them. Twig also has experience working with functional programming (e.g., Matlab, python) on various scientific, sensor, and game-related projects.

As a cognitive task developer for NGDT, Twig’s primary responsibility is prototyping for the Mobile Experimental Research Investigation Toolkit (MERIT) and MindLogger™ applications. These innovative digital tools aim to facilitate more accessible and effective diagnosis and care of individuals with a variety of mental health disorders.
