Child Mind Institute Launches Powerful “YOU GOT THIS!” Mental Health Awareness Campaign featuring Phoebe Dynevor, Alyssa Milano, Kevin Love, Candice King, Hunter Hayes, Kendrick Sampson, Justin Baldoni and More

May 5, 2023

New York, NY – In advance of Children’s Mental Health Day on May 7th, the Child Mind Institute, the leading independent nonprofit in children’s mental health, launched a powerful mental health awareness campaign “YOU GOT THIS!” The campaign strives to reduce stigmas and normalize conversations around emotional, social and psychological challenges among youth.

For the first time ever, the Child Mind Institute’s Mental Health Awareness Month campaign kicks off with an interview between 14-year-old patient and singer/songwriter, Cooper, and Bridgerton star, Phoebe Dynevor. Kevin Love and Candice King will also have discussions with young patients about their mental health. Other notable voices will share supportive messages as well, including Alyssa Milano, America Ferrera, Anjali Bhimani, Brandi Chastain, Drew Robinson, Hunter Hayes, Jack Wright, Justin Baldoni, Kendrick Sampson, and Shanola Hampton. Videos will debut across the Child Mind Institute’s social platforms, and on ChildMind.org, throughout the month.

With today’s teenagers experiencing alarming levels of hopelessness and suicidal thoughts, the need for open conversations around mental health is greater than ever before. Symptoms of depression and anxiety have doubled since the pandemic, and one in five children and teens struggle with a diagnosable mental health disorder.

“Almost two thirds of children with a mental health disorder don’t get identified or treated,” said Harold S. Koplewicz, MD, president and medical director of the Child Mind Institute. “We know, from our clinical practices and research, that when kids feel comfortable sharing, they have a better chance of receiving life-changing treatment. Our campaign seeks to empower children across the country to thrive in the face of adversity and amplify messages of hope. The Child Mind Institute is honored to stand among such notable leaders as we say, ‘YOU GOT THIS!’”

“You are definitely not alone. You can seek help. There’s so many people now you can speak to. Child Mind Institute obviously being one of them,” said Phoebe Dynevor.  “Even though it may feel like you’re the only person suffering in that room, you’re almost certainly not.”

“We all have those moments where we feel totally overwhelmed,” said Alyssa Milano. “But I really feel like acknowledging who you are, falling in love with who you are, and knowing how special you are and what you can contribute to the world helps those hard days get easier. There’s always hope. Never lose hope. You’ll always get better.”

Since 2017, the Child Mind Institute’s annual mental health awareness campaigns have featured notable individuals including Emma Stone, Bill Hader, Margot Robbie, P!nk, Octavia Spencer, Andrew Garfield, Reese Witherspoon, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, Zoe Saldana, Antoni Porowski, Bebe Rexha, Gabrielle Union, Jameela Jamil, Jonah Hill, Julianne Hough, Kevin Love, Lena Dunham, Gabby Sidibe, Mark Ronson, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Phelps , Misty Copeland, Sarah Silverman, Zoey Deutch, Kristen Bell, Emma Chamberlain, Tan France, and more.
