(NEW YORK, NY ) – The Child Mind Institute hosted its 11th annual benefit virtually on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, with all donations supporting the organization’s efforts to reach children and communities in need. This year’s benefit raised $6.3 million – $3.2 million coming from the gala event and an additional $3.1 million in accelerated support from donors earlier in the year – to support the Child Mind Institute’s clinical financial aid, school and community programs, and cutting-edge open science research on the developing brain.

The benefit honored the clinicians of the Child Mind Institute for their commitment to providing essential care during the COVID-19 pandemic. The night featured special appearances from Child Mind Institute board member Emma Stone, Kelly Ripa, Jeremy Strong, Gabrielle Union, Jeannie and Jim Gaffigan, Kate Snow (NBC News), Jennifer Siebel Newsom (First Partner of California) and Andrew Barth Feldman (Dear Evan Hansen). The pre-show panels were moderated by Cynthia McFadden (NBC News), George Stephanopoulos (ABC News) and Ali Wentworth.

“For ten years our Child Advocacy Award Dinner has been a celebration of the inspiring friends who helped build the Child Mind Institute,” said Harold S. Koplewicz, MD, president and medical director of the Child Mind Institute. “This year, a year like no other, we’re doing something different. We are honoring the clinicians of the Child Mind Institute, a group like no other. They have taken the challenge of 2020 and soared. They launched a fully online clinical program. They’ve reached millions of parents through social media. They doubled the size of our school and community programs. They kept open our critical public health resources in New York City. They are heroes to so many this year!”
