Time Magazine: Science of Learning, Special Issue | Fall 2020
Dr. Matthew Cruger speaks at length with TIME about learning disorders. In part he says, There is also an interaction between the study of general learning in children and the study of learning disorders, says Cruger. “Part of the beauty of what we do is this dynamic between general education models and the subsets of struggling students specialists are focused on.” An example of this can be seen in the promise of an ambitious effort spearheaded by the Child Mind Institute called the Healthy Brain Network. The effort will aim to collect data from a very large sample, 10,000 participants, and make the data open to other researchers. It will serve as a resource for researchers who are studying patterns in child and adolescent mental health, as well as those developing biomarkers to identify psychiatric and psycho- logical conditions.”
