You Got This: A Recap of Our May Mental Health Awareness Month Campaign
For May Mental Health Awareness Month, we launched the You Got This campaign to offer support and guidance to young people struggling with mental health and learning challenges.
Throughout the month, we’ve heard from celebrities, influencers, pro athletes, and kids who’ve all experienced their own hardships with mental health. NBA star Kevin Love opened up about his difficulties with imposter syndrome and anxiety, encouraging our youth to rejoice in the small successes instead of focusing on the failures. TikTok sensation Jack Wright shared how reaching out for support and using coping strategies like meditation have helped him manage his OCD symptoms. Actress and activist Alyssa Milano described how she learned to view her dyslexia as a superpower.
This year, we also had the pleasure of inviting a few of the Child Mind Institute’s patients to interview their celebrity role models about their experience with mental health challenges. Sixth grade student Maddie sat down with The Vampire Diaries star Candice King to discuss the pressures of growing up and the importance of therapy. Watch here:
These are just a few examples of the many moving stories we shared during the month of May. To view more video messages, interviews, and tip sheets, you can browse the You Got This campaign landing page.
