Overview
The School Refusal Parent Training and Consultation program provides support for caregivers whose children or teens are refusing to attend school or showing school avoidance behaviors due to anxiety. Participants learn about the underlying causes of school refusal and gain practical, evidence-based strategies to help their child return to school using a gradual, supportive, and collaborative approach.

Consultations are tailored to your family’s needs and can support urgent school refusal concerns, school meetings, caregiver coaching, and return-to-school planning. Families also receive guidance on working with schools and understanding available treatment options.
Eligibility
This program is for parents and caregivers of children and teens who are refusing to attend school or avoiding school because of anxiety. Families receive practical, evidence-based strategies to help their child return to school with confidence.

School Refusal Parent Training addresses children and teens who:
- Are extremely nervous or worried about going to school.
- Frequently try to stay home from school when possible.
- Leave school early or frequently call parents from school.
- Often feels sick or visit the school nurse complaining of physical ailments.
- Become agitated or upset when thinking or talking about school.
School Refusal Parent Training helps parents understand why school refusal happens and gives them practical, evidence-based strategies to support their child. Families learn how to reduce anxiety, encourage school attendance, work effectively with their child’s school, and create a plan for a successful return to the classroom.
If a child cannot attend and we are notified at least 7 days prior to the start date of the program we will issue a refund, excluding a $300 non-refundable deposit for administrative fees. At the time of registration full payment is required to reserve a space. If less than 7 days notification is given, no refund will be provided.
