Circuit-Targeted Neuromodulation Across Symptoms and Disorders
Shan Siddiqi, MD, is the Stephen M. Stahl Associate Professor of Psychiatry and scientific director of the Dauten Bipolar Center of Excellence at Northwestern University. Clinically, he is a neuropsychiatrist and is leading a national effort to develop accreditation standards for brain stimulation as a recognized clinical subspecialty. His research is focused on causal mapping of human brain function and dysfunction.
About This Event
Therapeutic brain stimulation is a rapidly growing frontier in psychiatry. As it expands to new indications, there is a growing need for a framework for how general psychiatrists and scientists should think about the field, particularly as image-guided approaches gain traction. The present lecture will summarize how functional connectivity MRI guidance was shown to improve outcomes with transcranial magnetic stimulation, how it can be applied to different symptoms/disorders, and what this means for both psychiatrists and non-psychiatrists.
